Our Purpose
Caroline Wood Recycling & Mulch Yard was created to provide our community with a local, dependable, and environmentally responsible place to recycle wood waste and purchase premium mulch.
As a SWaM-certified, woman-owned and operated business, Medek Enterprises is committed to purposeful service, ethical operations, and building long-term value for the communities we serve. Our work is grounded in reducing waste, protecting natural resources, and supporting a cleaner, stronger Virginia.
Our Roots
Rooted in Central Virginia, our corporate office in Ashland, VA, works closely with our Caroline County mulch and recycling facility and our sister company, Medek Corp, to support regional construction, hauling, and land-clearing operations.
Our foundation is built on responsible recycling of wood, brush, stumps, and yard debris; local sourcing and on-site processing of materials; efficient site design; and a hands-on, experienced team that understands contractor workflows.
We operate with honesty, accountability, and a commitment to doing things the Medek Way—with purpose, reliability, and the strength to get the job done.

MATERIALS NOT ACCEPTED
(Per Site Policy and Applicable Requirements)
- Municipal solid waste (MSW) or household trash
- Plastics of any kind (including bags, liners, tarps, containers)
- Scrap metal or metal debris
- Painted, stained, pressure-treated, creosote-treated, or chemically treated wood
- Engineered wood products (plywood, OSB, MDF, particle board, laminated lumber)
- Pallets, unless pre-approved by management
- Gypsum, drywall, or wallboard materials
- Soil, dirt, sand, clay, or fines
- Rock, stone, gravel, or aggregate
- Concrete, asphalt, brick, block, or other masonry materials
- Roofing materials (shingles, felt, flashing, membranes)
- Railroad ties, utility poles, or similarly treated structural timbers
- Hazardous, regulated, or special wastes, including but not limited to:
- Petroleum products or fuels
- Oils, solvents, chemicals
- Asbestos-containing materials
Loads containing unauthorized or prohibited materials may be rejected, reclassified, or assessed additional fees at the sole discretion of facility management.

Yard Safety & Operations
For the safety of all customers and staff, the following rules apply while on site:
• All visitors must follow posted signage and directions from yard personnel
• Required PPE must be worn at all times, including high-visibility vests, hard hats, and steel-toe footwear
• Customers must remain clear of all operating equipment, including loaders, grinders, stackers, and trucks
• Entering active equipment zones or restricted areas is prohibited
• Equipment operators and yard vehicles have the right-of-way at all times
• Customers must remain in their vehicles unless directed otherwise by yard staff
• Materials and quantities must be verified before loading or unloading
• Contaminated or prohibited materials may result in additional surcharges
• Dyed mulch may experience color variation or fading if exposed to rain before curing
Failure to follow yard safety and operational guidelines may result in refusal of service or removal from the property.
